Ben Echeverria, M.A., J.D.

Ben Echeverria is clinical professor at the Roueche Graduate Center of National American University. His academic credentials include a Master of Arts degree in counseling and psychology from the University of Nevada-Reno, a Professional Certificate in Career Counseling from the University of California-San Diego and a Juris Doctorate in law from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California.

His experience in education administration includes service as a Foreign Student Advisor and Counselor at the University of Nevada-Reno and Dean of Men and Associate Dean of Students at the State University of New York-Cortland, New York.

His legal experience in education law includes transactional and trial work as a staff attorney with the San Diego Unified School District, San Diego, California, and general counsel of Palomar College in San Marcos, California. As an insurance defense attorney, he defended educational institutions and, later in his own practice, he represented K-12 districts and colleges both as defendants and as plaintiffs often in jury trials.

Mr. Echeverria served as judge pro tem for the North County Municipal Court, Escondido, California. He was an arbitrator and mediator assisting parties in resolving their legal disputes through alternative dispute resolution methods in both Southern California and New Mexico. He served as member of the governing board of the Palomar Community College District and a member of the board of the New Mexico State Mediation Association.

He has given internships to second and third year law students and career counseling and mentoring to attorneys in transition in their careers.

Currently Mr. Echeverria writes, teaches, lectures and consults sharing with others his knowledge and experience in education and law.
